Spruce Point Inn Does It Right!

I recently attended a wedding of two amazing people at the Spruce Point Inn.  The Inn overlooks exactly what you’d expect to see in midcoast Maine, a picaresque cove with wooded landscape.  My friend, puppy and I stayed in an adorable cabin room, which was plenty big for the weekend’s events and hosting the pre-party within walking distance of the ceremony.  The Inn has a decent bar and is meticulously maintained.  With two pools and free water toys, this is the perfect place for some R&R.

Camden, Olad and The WaterFront

If I haven’t written about Camden, Maine I would be completely shocked.  My grandfather recently passed away, but hi and my grandmother had their retirement roots in the midcoast Camden area.  This town represents fond memories of beach combing, exploring the quaint stores and of course treating ourselves to many a lobster roll.  If you want a day trip from Portland, Camden is the place to be.  In honor of my grandparents, we took a schooner ride on Olad, a gorgeous 80 foot boat out of the Camden harbor.  The ride took us out into Penobscot Bay, where my grandparents and the rest of the family used to sail from their home on Harbor Road.  While this meant to much more to us than a sailboat ride, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.  I was also impressed with the crew who made us laugh and told wild tales of the area, pointing out several impressive homes and adding commentary that was much appreciated.

Once you come back from the ride, take a stroll down Main Street to do some shopping and end the day with a lobster roll and brew at WaterFront.  You won’t be disappointed.
